Couplet Poetry is a free monthly event, with extended readings from two poets whose work offers complements and contrasts.
Couplet Poetry represents a long-standing collaboration between Brisbane Libraries and Queensland Poetry Festival.
STACEY TEAGUE (Ngāti Maniapoto/Ngāpuhi) is a writer from Auckland currently living in Wellington. She is the poetry editor for Scum Mag and Awe Wahine, has her Masters in Creative Writing from the International Institute of Modern Letters, and has one full length book: Takahē (Scrambler Books, 2015), and two chapbooks: not a casual solitude (Ghost City Press, 2017) and hoki mai (If A Leaf Falls Press, 2020).
ANDY JACKSON has featured at literary events and arts festivals in Ireland, India, the USA and across Australia. His most recent book, Music Our Bodies Can’t Hold, which consists of portrait poems of other people with Marfan Syndrome, was shortlisted for the 2020 John Bray Poetry Award.
PLUS a special guest appearance from CHARMAINE PAPERTALK GREEN, who recently won the Association for the Study of Australian Literature Gold Medal. Charmaine is from the Yamaji peoples of Western Australia. Her publications include Just Like That (Fremantle Art Press, 2007); Tiptoeing Tod the Tracker (Oxford University Press, 2014); collaboration with WA poet John Kinsella, False Claim of Colonial Thieves (Magabala Books, 2018); Nganajungu Yagu (Cordite Publishing Inc.s, 2019); and numerous anthologies and publications.
