Emerging Older Poets Mentorship

The Queensland Poetry Festival is thrilled to announce the successful recipient of our inaugural Emerging Older Poets Mentorship, is Shey Marque from Perth. Shey will receive editorial feedback and advice from award winning poet Philip Neilsen and publication in Overland online. She will also be reading a selection of her work at QPF’s Emerging Voices Salon on Friday 24 August.

 

Congratulations also to Elanna Herbert and Henry Briffa whose entries were highly commended.

This mentorship has been designed to address a lack of opportunities for new and emerging writers in the 55+ age bracket.

About the mentor
Philip Neilsen is a poet, author and editor who has published sixteen books. Wildlife of Berlin is his sixth collection of poetry. He teaches poetry and poetics at the University of Queensland and is adjunct professor of creative writing at QUT. His work has been translated into various languages including Chinese, German and Korean and his poetry has been included in prestigious anthologies. His awards include an Australian Notable Book Award and a Writers Fellowship from the Australia Council.
