We are delighted to announce QPF’s 2020 Prizes and Awards

Awards opening from 21 March 2020 include the suite of prestigious Arts Queensland Poetry Awards (Thomas Shapcott, Val Vallis, XYZ), the Oodgeroo Noonuccal Indigenous Poetry Prize, and the Emerging Older Poets Mentorship. Please note: the the opening of the Philip Bacon Ekphrasis Award will have a slight delay. We will update this page and make announcements on social media when it opens.

Presented by QPF for the eleventh year in 2020, the Arts Queensland Poetry Awards are an important platform for established and emerging poets to present new works and build their profile, with cash prizes and industry support for the winners. Recipients also have the opportunity to profile their award-winning works at the future festivals and events.

Among the prizes is the Arts Queensland Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize for an unpublished manuscript, named in honour of this distinguished Queensland poet. Now in its 18th year, this prestigious award includes prize money of $2,000 and a publishing contract with University of Queensland Press (UQP).

Online applications for the Arts Queensland Poetry Awards close on 4 May 2020 and applications for the Oodgeroo Noonuccal Poetry Prize, Philip Bacon Ekphrasis Award and Emerging Older Poets Mentorship close on 27 April 2020.

Winners of all awards will be announced at the Queensland Poetry Awards, on 31st July 2020.
