Awards opening Friday 11 May 2018 include the suite of prestigious Arts Queensland Poetry Awards and the Philip Bacon Ekphrasis Award.
The Ooodgeroo Noonuccal Poetry Prize, Australia’s only open-age Poetry Prize for an unpublished poem by an Indigenous poet will open on 28 May.
QPF will accept online applications for all Arts Queensland awards and the Philip Bacon Ekphrasis Award from Friday 11 May 2018,
QPF will accept applications for the Oodgeroo Noonuccal Poetry Prize from Monday 28 May, to coincide with National Reconciliation Week.
Presented by QPF for the ninth year in 2018, the Arts Queensland Poetry Awards are an important platform for established and emerging poets to present new works and build their profile, with cash prizes and industry support for the winners. Recipients also have the opportunity to profile their award-winning works at the future festivals and events.
Among the prizes is the Arts Queensland Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize for an unpublished manuscript, named in honour of this distinguished Queensland poet. Now in its 15th year, this prestigious award includes prize money of $2,000 and a publishing contract with University of Queensland Press (UQP).

Winners of all awards will be announced at the Queensland Poetry Awards presentation, on opening night of the Queensland Poetry Festival, Thursday 23 August 2018 at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts.
